the new pigeon
Herons are the new pigeons. More and more of em are entering the city. I find it still a bit weird if you see one pretending its all normal for it to be on top of a car instead of watching a bit of water. It seems that the whole birdscape (if there is such a word) in amsterdam is changing. The common sparrow has been chased out by flocks of rampant tropical parrots and all the pigeons mutated into some kind of flying rat. Interesting.
But to be honest most of the times when I see a bird I call it ‘bird’ because I am not that knowledgeable about bird names so it gets kind of hard then to develop theories about the changing birdscape. I am not that good at naming trees either. When I think about it it is kind of weird how I can probably distinguish better between different types of cars then different kinds of trees or birds.
