man at airport sleeping

On my way home at San Jose Juan Santamaria International Airport I passed this man. My first thought was that line form that song “wherever I lay my head is my home” (or was it ‘hat’?) Then I thought that he must be very tired that he could sleep on the hard floor facing the white wall under these harsh lights. Why is he lying all the way in that corner in this dead end of a useless space? He probably is trying to get as much privacy as possible in a busy airport. Would I also choose that spot? What if your arm starts sleeping and you have to turn around? Suddenly you will be facing all these people passing by and you can forget all about sleeping. So you would have to stay in this position or turn towards the other wall. It is weird how it feels safer to sleep with your back to people because when you are awake you mostly like to face the crowd and keep your back to the wall. That is why in restaurants the wall tables are always occupied first. Does this change when you close your eyes? It must have something to do with ancient instinct stuff: face the danger when awake hide the most vulnerable parts when you can see. Something like this, I am just guessing here. This guy didn’t have much to fear since everybody in the whole airport was ignoring him…
