I don’t know if you know about my realmail project. If you don’t I will explain. Realmail is my attempt at getting people from all over the world to send me realmail. Not email cause I get enough of that. What I didn’t get anymore was real mail. The only real mail I got were bank statements, tax letters and lots of bills. As a solution I had a whole bunch of empty postcards printed with my adres on the other side. The idea is that people do something with the empty side and mail it to me. I will not display any of the entries on an online gallery or something like that. Cause I want to keep it real. Offline… But what I will do though is gather these cards and turn into a booklet. So please send me my realmailcards back if you have them. If you don’t have them then go to www.realmail.nl and download the pdf.(just click on the card) Don’t be shy do whatever you like but try and stay within the format so it can be added o the booklet which will be the same format.
Tonite I told a bunch of people at this thing called “salon sessions” about the realmail project. And I kind of promised them that there would be an explanation to why there are stickers on the cards… what you see above is not real. there is no real mail card with the achtergracht adress printed on. What was printed on the cards originaly was a PObox adress, a wrong PObox adress. When I thought of this project a while ago I was going to share a PObox with my good friend PeeJee meanwhile I put this fake adress on the card just to see how it would look. Then the project laid dormant for at least a year when I was traveling… when I got back I wanted to restart the project and printed the cards. When they were ready I told PeeJee to keep an eye on the mailbox cause there might be some cards poppin in. Then PeeJee told me there wasn’t a mailbox and closer examination of the 1000 printed cards revealed that the ridiculous adress could never be true as there are no PO boxes in Amsterdam that have a zipcode in the 3000s. Anyway I didn’t want to reprint cause In already felt sorry for the trees that had to die for these cards. So that’s why there are stickers on it.
